I took a photo of this message that was posted on the Community Board outside of Hillhurst Hardware in Kensington, Calgary.
Formerly known as The Shagbots (minus one member), Coloured Prints are four extremely hardworking superfriends who have decided that being in a band actually means something, and that playing a few local shows and releasing a couple demos is not nearly enough. Their debut album, “We Were Born Tigers”, has charted on college/indie radio stations around the world, and in between an appearance at last year’s SXSW showcase in Austin, TX, managed to tour Canada in a stinky van. I knew when I first watched them perform that they were very different than any other band I had seen in Calgary at the time, and they really stood out in my mind because of their explosive energy, originality, and overall tightness as a unit. I have been following their progress for a few years now, and I become a bigger fan of the band every time I have the honour to see them, or listen to their music. Currently in the studio, Coloured Prints are working on a follow-up to “We Were Born Tigers”, and birthing the latest installment of music that I’ll surely be looking forward to hearing.
